Global Harmonization Initiative World Congress

June 25 - June 27

The 2nd GHI World Congress will take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands from 25–27 June 2025. Join us there, either in person or online. Together with our lineup of distinguished plenary and keynote speakers take part in exciting discussions and debates to search for solutions to issues around the future of food systems and aspects of food security, safety, health and sustainability.

There is a pressing need to address existing issues in the global food system, from farm to fork, which needs significant optimization. Across the world there are increasing disparities in access to safe food, resulting in rising hunger, unaffordable healthy diets with inadequate dietary intakes, all leading to diseases and mortality. The current global food system is unsustainable and contributes to significant food losses and waste, environmental degradation, deforestation, inefficient land and water use, greenhouse gas emissions and loss of biodiversity – the list is long.

A transition towards a more sustainable food system is necessary to adequately feed current generations without compromising future generations and to ensure human and planetary health. The GHI Congress aims to bring together scientists (academics and students, industrial, governmental and NGO scientists), other experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the role of science and technology to improve food security, safety, health and sustainability, that is to face the challenges head on.

Topics of interest that the GHI Congress will explore include: food security, food safety, health and nutrition, sustainability in food systems, sensory and consumer insights including cultural needs, future foods, innovations, artificial intelligence, food law, policy, regulations and enforcement.
